Camping Trip - Black Rock Mountain State Park
Join us for a camping adventure at Black Rock! This can be in unison to our Panther Creek hike. The park is only 25 miles away from the trailhead.

From Atlanta: Take I-85N to I-985N. Remain on 4 lane through Tallaulah Falls and on US 441N through Clayton. 3 miles N Of Clayton, in Mountain City, turn left onto Black Rock Mountain Parkway. Steep mountain road to the park.
Camping Days August 8th Friday - Monday the 11th but you can leave earlier or stay longer.
Sites available- 17, 18, 20, 22,24,25,26,27
Raven will be on site 21- this will also be a communal site people can come hang out together.
Price $36 per night. Must make your own reservation.

The state park with the highest elevation in Georgia showcases some of the most outstanding scenery in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Overlooks provide spectacular 80 mile vistas. Firewood and ice are available for purchase at the visitors center during regular business hours.

Upper Falls via Panther Creek Trail
This hike is labled MODERATE and is approximately 7 mile hike that is out and back and will take approximately 3-4 hours depending on how long you swim at the swimming hole and falls.
This hike has a variety of terrain from creek crossings, minor climbing with use of ropes, narrow sections, steep sections, muddy spots and rocky sections. Please have sturdy shoes and plenty of water and snacks.
Use the All Trails App to take you to the correct trailhead to the Upper Falls via Panther Creek.

Pack a bathing suit if you plan to swim

Arkaquah Trail
This hike is labeled HARD! This is approximately 11.4 miles and will take approximately 8 hours to hike it if we hike it there and back without camping . The elevation gain is 3,720 ft. It’s in the Brasstown Wilderness. We will need to start early at 8am since it’s a long hike with lots of elevation.
It is labeled one of the hardest hikes in north Ga, so you HAVE to be an experienced hiker to be able to do this adventure. This is NOT for beginners. This has steep climbs, fallen trees, and a rock scramble. The first mile is a hard, steep inline.
you will need a 3 L hydration pack, snacks and trekking poles.

Emery Creek Falls Trail
This hike is rated MODERATE and is approximately 6 miles and will take about 3-3.5 hours with elevation gain of 902 ft and is an out and back hike.
some of us will be staying in Dalton, Ga at the Days Inn by Wyndham Dalton for $86 for one night (Friday) If you would like to room and split the cost, let me know (Rebecca)
You will be crossing the creek 11 times, so you need water resistant shoes and extra pair of socks in case. There are deep crossings and slipper rocks. Water shoes and trekking poles recommended.

Benton Mackaye Duncan Ridge Trail
This hike is labeled MODERATE and is approximately 7 miles with an elevation gain of 1646 ft. It should take approximately 4-5 hours depending on pace and pictures. This has a suspension bridge that spans the river. This is out and back hike. There are some steep climbs.
some of us will be staying in the Quality Inn Dahlonega near University for $143. Let me know if you want to room and split the cost.
Dog friendly and they require leashed dogs only.
Please use the AllTrails App for directions to the correct trailhead in Suches. It will take it directly there. The app also has written directions to get to that particular trailhead. We will meet at the trailhead. There is limited parking so if the lot is full, you may need to park down the road. .
Bring hydration pack, water, snacks. It is recommended to have proper footwear that supports your ankles, as ankle twisting is common due to the leaves.

Founder's Birthday Adventure - Coaster, Aerial Course, and Hiking
Saturday, we will do The Ga Mountain Coaster in Helen, GA. It is $17 per person ( you are responsible for). Website link for info:

Sunday, we will hike the Ash Creek Loop which is 3.8 miles with an elevation gain of 561 ft and is a loop hike. Its's in the Smithgall Woods State Park. $5 unless you have an annual pass. Be prepared to cross creeks that could be to your knees but reviews state it's worth the hike and adventurous!

Bearden Falls and Corn Maze
This is a 3 mile out and back hike that is rated MODERATE and will take approximately 2 hours with an elevation gain of 597 ft. This hike is in Dawsonville, Ga.
This has a beautiful waterfall view, multiple creek crossings (need waterproof boots and hiking poles and maybe bring an extra pair of socks in case). There are downed trees and steep sections.
After the hike, we can grab some food at Miller’s Ale House in Dawsonville. Food Menu in the link:

Then we will head to Uncle Shuck’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch. Cost is $17 per person and must be paid at the gate upon arrival using cash or card. There is a 3.5 % service fee for credit cards. At the Corn Maze, we will have a race with the Wild Women Wanderers. The first person to get out of the maze correctly, will win a prize!
We will head home after the Corn Maze.
Some of us will head up Friday to stay the night and stay at the Namaste Inn and Suites in Dawsonville, Ga for a total of $133 for one night. Let me know if you would like to split the cost and room.

Sky Pond, The Loch & Timberlake Falls, Maroon Bells - Colorado
We will fly into Denver that Friday, grab rental cars (cost TBD depending on headcount) check in hotel at YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado. This venue has other activities such as mini golf, archery , horseback riding etc. total cost is $302 total for 2 nights. Let me know if you want to split the room and cost.
If we have time we can hike Emerald Lake which is a 3.2 mile hike which will take approximately 2 hours and has an elevation gain of 692 ft and is an out and back hike. Slippery snow sections.
We will do dinner at The Hive at Estes Park Brewery. Food menu is in the link :

if we feel up to it, We can head back to the hotel and maybe even some Mini golf.
We will do breakfast at 7 am at the hotel. They do charge $14.50 for the breakfast buffet.
Then we will head to our big hike- Sky Pond, The Loch, Timberline Falls via Glacier Gorge Loop. Microspikes are recommended and plenty of water. This hike is labeled HARD and is approximately 10 miles with an elevation gain of 2,168 ft and is a loop.

Woody Gap to Jerrard Gap
This hike is part of the AT and is an out and back hike that is labeled HARD and is approximately 11 miles with an elevation gain of 2,401 ft. It has steep inclines and potential wildlife encounters. With breaks, be prepared for a 6.5 -7 hour hike.
It is bear country, so use caution.
Park at the trailhead.

Mammoth March - 20 miles in 8 hours
MammothMarch is finally coming to Georgia!
Indian Springs State Park – one of the oldest state parks in the US – as well as the Dauset Trail system will co-host their premiere in the Peach State.
The 20-mile hiking route will put every inch of these two hidden gems on full display. Located just an hour south of Atlanta, we will await nature enthusiasts, wildlife lovers, and anyone seeking a connection with the great outdoors for a beautiful and challenging adventure.
Mastering our challenge, you will be exhausted, but proud and happy... as well as part of our amazing community of nature-lovers, hikers and MammothMarch addicts!
Some of The Wild Women Wanderers has signed up for time slot of 7:45 am. Come hike with us and let’s do these 20 miles together!

James E. Edmonds Trail
This hike is rated HARD!!! It’s approximately 7 miles with a 1991 elevation gain and hike is a loop. It will take approximately 5 hours to hike. It has many small waterfalls, streams and rivers. The terrain is challenging with many steep inclines and declines, twisted roots, slippery leaves, downed trees and rocks. 2 of the inclines are a mile long each.
Must have water, snacks, and good footwear due to the terrain. It’s suggested to have trekking poles. There are water sources along the way if you use a filter.
$5 park pass unless you have an annual pass

Historic Banning Mills - Hiking, Zip Lining, Wall Climbing, Kayaking
Those that want to stay overnight, you can go online to book your own lodging or if you would like to split a rustic cabin that sleeps up to 8, let us know via email: wildwomenwanderers@gmail.com. The minimum price is for 5 people and that’s a total of $248.69. It can sleep up to 8 people and then the price goes up to $318. And we can split the cost between everyone staying the night. We just need a headcount if you plan to split the cabin with us. Check in is at 4 pm. Check out is 11am. I will need to book the cabin July 1st at the latest.
There are 15 miles of various trails to hike at The Historic Banning Mills. We can hike a few short trails crossing over bridges or if you would like to just hike between the 2 days you’re more than welcome to do that. We have a hiking only group designated.
Saturday, we will zip line, wall climb and hike.
Sunday we can kayak and then head home. And the hiking only will be hiking.
Please read comments with prices below and let us know which activity you would like to do so we can get a headcount. Once I can get a headcount for activities, I can call about group rates. I will book cabin and request group rates on July 1st. So will need a headcount for cabin and activities by July 1st to be able to give everyone cost.

Sunday morning we can cook breakfast at the cabin for everyone. Breakfast is at 8:00 am and then we can continue with activities. We will kayak unless you are in the hiking group. Head home after activities.

Trail of Ten Falls - Oregon
Trip to Oregon!
Fly into Portland, Oregon, grab rental cars, get a quick lunch at Lakeside Bar and Grill and head to our first hike.
Wild Cherry, Wildwood, Alder, Dogwood Loop via Leif Erickson Drive which is a moderate 5.8 mile loop that will take approximately 3-3.5 hours with an elevation gain of 875 ft. It may have muddy patches and steep sections. Proper footwear is suggested.
After the hike, we will drive to Salem, Oregon to check into out hotel (Days Inn by Wyndham Black Bear $236 total for both nights), then grab dinner after getting freshened up.

Saturday morning breakfast at 8am at Word of Mouth Neighborhood Bistro in Salem, Oregon.
After breakfast, head to Silver Falls Park in Silverton, Oregon. There’s a 1 day use parking permit of $10.
We will hike The Trail of Ten Falls which is a moderate 7.4 mile loop hike that will take approximately 4-4.5 hours to hike with an elevation gain of 1, 181 in elevation gain.
After the hike, we can head back to hotel and freshen up and head to dinner at Gambretti’s.
Sunday - fly home.

Melbourne, Florida - Kayak through African Zoo, hike & Beach
We will be wandering on water and land!
This is a weekend trip in Melbourne. Florida. You can either drive or fly in that Friday. We can either spit a hotel room or you can get your own.
Saturday, we will kayak at Brevard Zoo, then hike the Maritime Hammock Sanctuary Loop and hit the beach. Head home on Sunday.
Zoo admission fee is $32 online (you will be responsible for) and WWW will cover your kayak tour fee.

Raven Cliff Falls Trail
This hike is labeled MODERATE and is approximately 5 miles with an elevation gain of 633 ft. It is an out and back hike with many waterfalls along the way.
We will be be backpacking in and out. We will hike for about halfway in (2.5 mile mark) and setup camp. We ask everyone to help each other setup as we will have different levels of campers and hikers, gather the making for a fire and make one together. If you want to bring equipment to cook with , you’re more than welcome to or opt in easy light packs of food that doesn’t have to be cooked. But roasting marshmallows is always a fun time!
Remember rule of thumb, pack light and not more than 20% of your weight.

The terrain goes over roots and rocks, so sturdy shoes is a MUST! This also has a lot of creek crosses and muddy patches so water resistant shoes will be ideal.
This is a good hike for dogs but beware there are some log crossing to go over streams.

Rafting Section IV on Chatooga River
We are wandering on water! We will head to Clayton, Ga on the 27th, raft all day Saturday, and go home Sunday the 28th.
Rafting tickets at Southeastern Expeditions are $165 per person and will need to book ASAP. Rafting for 7 hours and a riverside lunch is included.

Smith Creek Trail to Anna Ruby Falls
This is a MODERATE hike that is approximately 8.5-9 mile hike. There are creeks to cross, some downed trees and overgrown sections. Elevation Gain is 1669 and length of time approximately 5 hours. Some steep climbs. Some spots have uneven rocks and most of the hike is shaded. This is an out and back hike.
Bring water , snacks and water resistant shoes and extra socks. You will be crossing some creeks so your feet will get wet.
We will meet at the Visitors Center ( Unicoi State Park and Lodge 1788 Highway 356, Helen, Ga). Due to trailhead parking capacity of 6 cars, we can meet at the Visitors Center and fill our cars up to take less cars to the trailhead. If parking lot if filled, be prepared to park on the side of the road.
$5 parking pass unless you have Annual Pass.
Some of will get a hotel nearby at The Red Roof Inn in Helen, Ga

Lula Lake Classic Loop

This hike is labeled MODERATE and is approximately 4.5 miles. Get ready for some beautiful and stunning waterfall views, with steep paths and slippery sections.

4 Hour Walk through Gibbs Gardens
Walk through the 12 Gardens at Gibbs Gardens. Easy walk that takes approximately 4 hours.

They do not allow dogs unless it’s a service dog and you must pick up after your dog. No professional camera allowed. No outside drinks unless it’s water.

Grand Canyon
This is a bucket list for any hiker! We will fly out on Friday the 25th, hike the 26th, and fly back the 27th. It’s going to be a short but busy weekend! What else can we say about The Grand Canyon??

Three Forks & Springer Mountain via AT
Address: Type in Three Forks USFS 58 at the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in Blueridge.
This hike is rated Moderate and is 8.5 miles. Meet at the trailhead at 9am. This hike has steep climbs and slippery spots after rain. Lots of beautiful scenery and waterfalls.

Hike a leg across Ga with Gail Vance to stop child abuse
Gail Vance is walking across Ga from west to east to raise money for The Rainbow House Children’s Resource Center that helps kids that have been abused or at risk. The leg we will hike is TBD depending on Gail’s progress. Let’s cheer her on and walk with her!

Gahuti Backcountry Trail

Hike this beautiful overlook, and waterfall. This is a 8-8.5 mile hike and considered HARD. Parking should be easy. Diversity of terrain and well maintained!
